Apple officially cancels AirPower wireless charger

Apple has officially canceled its AirPower wireless charger. The company said that the product didn't achieve there “high standards”, via TechChrunch.

“After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward,” said Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering in an emailed statement today

Apple revealed the AirPower charging mat back in September 2017, during the company’s iPhone X and Apple Watch Series 3 event at the Steve Jobs Theater. The AirPower charger was meant to charge three devices at once without needing to plug them in (specifically, an Apple Watch, AirPod headphones, and an iPhone).
